how to make a million dollars with adsense a year

Monday, August 29th, 2005

According to Jason Calacanis it is quite easy to get one million a year: get 2,739 Dollars a day ;)
To get this you need about 103 bloggers and nine staffers in your little big company. Weblogs, Inc. is about to get $ 2,739 a day in a few weeks I think, but they will be at 3,000 to 5,000 within this year says Jason.

But we all know: The first million is the hardest

kloeschen.com english only

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

from this day on, I will post in english @ kloeschen.com
My german visitors should visit kloeschen.de, which will be online in a few minutes/hours. I will not delete the german posts on this blog, since they are already indexed by all mayor search engines and I don’t like dead links. Some of my new posts will be translated, but not every post. The categories will be renamed or replaced by a tagging powered engine.
Please stay tuned and visit this page on a regular basis ;)

track your visitor

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

But then he just scrolled through the index-page without visiting a single post. Bad. Remark 2: Use excerpts to catch visitors attention and do not show the entire post on the index pages, which was my fault.

My visitor was suprised coming to google while using my site search. Why is he back at google, after clicking a search result of a google search to come to my blog? Remark 3: Use blog internal search engine if available rather than google By the way, I didn’t receive any adsense click by "Adsense for search" until now.

I added some nice blogging-features the last weeks like recent posts and next/prev-navigation links which he couldn’t find since he was just browsing through my index page and some categories and I have implemented them on the single post pages only Remark 4: read remark 2 again.. I will have to change that.

Not everybody of us can observe a visitor exploring the blog, but there are some tools which might help.

  • Use adsense channels to see which adsense positions will work good, and which don’t. (read Google Adsense Webinar)
  • Statistics of your site whith visitor tracking possibility like they have at statcounter will help to know how people will explore your site.
  • To see where visitors will left your page by clicking on a link, use a service like MyBlogLog.com(affiliate link!). They do have a free service too.
  • Show your blogto everyone you know and let him/her explore your blog while sitting behind your friend. Don’t touch the keyboard/mouse yourself!

Blogging is a work in progress. For everytime! You will never stop learning new things. A few improvement will burst your counter.

why I click on adsense links

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

Today I will show you why I do click on adsense links.

click here for the english version

I’m bannerblind. I will in no case click on any colorfull, animated or blinking banner. Since I do visit pages which are using advertisements like that, I pimped my firefox and installed an ad-blocker. This works very good. But I don’t see the ads on my page any more, so I don’t see what some of my visitors see. Therefore I removed the adsense-expression from my adblocker to get the adsense again. From that time on I do see the adsense links and what shall I say, they are relevant.

With this in mind I do check them out, even at the search result pages at google and on every page I visit. Since the ad is on the same topic like the page, I have no reason not to click on it. Most of the time I click on the adlinks since there are more relevant links for me. It happens that I do visit 2 or more of this pages, which will give the webmaster even more money. But why not? I do hope that my visitors will do this too ;)

Due to this links I found very good pages and tools which I haven’t found while searching in google and co.

My tipp: install an adblocker but remove adsense-expression to find relevant pages

publish at the right time

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

For the last weeks, I had to work at night. While working I had much spare time because of some very old servers. I used this time to publish many posts to my blogs.
But unfortunately I didn’t get that much visitors during this time. Therefore I experiment a little bit with the time I publish the posts. Here are my experiences.

post / publish at the time it will be read

Publish your posts when your targeted audience is able to read it. By clicking publish in your blogging-software the post will be saved in the database. But there happens a bit more.
By publishing a post trackbacks are send, you are using trackbacks, right? Most blogs do show the last trackbacks the blog received. This is good for our blog, since every visible link can be clicked. But what happens if none of our targeted audience is watching? Maybe our trackback will be supressed by some newer ones and our potential readers can’t see it.

For pings it’s nearly the same. Some blog directories show the latest posts on the homepage. But you won’t get any visitors referred by this page, if your post is visible at 03:47 in the night (targeted audience!).

Some websites do read your feed, you have a newsfeed, right? They show the latest entries on there homepage or the homepage of a category. Are you reading this page in the night, while sleeping?

target oriented publishing

When I blog for the german market I publish the posts to be online at local daytime. But when I post for my english speaking audience, I try to publish the post at a time, my potential readers are not sleeping.

Publishing at the right time can result in some extra visitors, not that much, but for a small blog enough ;)
